What Deep Cleaning a Car Interior Actually Involves
Vacuuming moves what is loose. A deep interior clean removes what has bonded to the surface underneath — which is most of what you can actually smell and see.
Strip and Dry Vacuum
Mats out, seats forward and back, everything loose removed. We vacuum the floor pan, the seat rails and the tracks people never reach, because that is where grit collects and grinds into carpet fibre.
Steam Into the Seams
High-temperature steam gets into vents, seat stitching, seat-belt housings, cup holders and door pockets. Heat breaks the bond on grime that a wipe just smears, and it sanitises at the same time without soaking anything.
Hot-Water Carpet Extraction
Solution is injected into the carpet and cloth under pressure, then vacuumed straight back out with the dirt suspended in it. This is the step that separates a deep clean from a shampoo — the dirty water leaves the vehicle rather than drying back into the pile.
Protect and Deodorise
Leather cleaned and conditioned, plastics and vinyl dressed with a non-greasy UV protectant, and an enzyme treatment run through the cabin to break down odour compounds at the source instead of covering them.
Car Carpet Extraction and Seat Stain Removal
The two jobs people actually call about, and what each one can realistically achieve.
Carpet extraction
Extraction is not shampooing. Shampoo works cleaning solution into the fibre; extraction injects it and then pulls it back out under vacuum in the same pass, carrying the suspended dirt with it. That distinction matters most in Houston, because any water left in carpet padding in this humidity is a mildew problem three days later. Done properly, the carpet is damp rather than wet and dries within a couple of hours with the doors open.
You need extraction rather than a vacuum when traffic lanes stay dark after cleaning, when a spill has soaked through, after a pet accident, or when a smell returns a day after the car looked clean. It is included in Interior Full and is the single biggest visible difference between the two packages.
Seat stain removal
On cloth and Alcantara, hot-water extraction with the right pre-treatment removes most of what gets spilled in a car: coffee, soda, juice, food grease, mud, blood and pet accidents. Older stains take more passes than fresh ones, but age alone rarely makes a stain permanent.
What cannot be removed is anything that has changed the colour of the fibre itself — ink, dye transfer from new denim, hair colour, bleach, and sun-faded panels. Those are not dirt sitting on the fibre; the fibre is a different colour now. We will tell you which category yours falls into when we look at it, before the work starts, rather than after.
Leather and vinyl
Leather is cleaned with a pH-balanced cleaner and a soft brush to lift grime out of the grain, then conditioned. Houston sun is what kills leather here — the dashboard-side bolsters on a car parked outside dry out and crack years before the rest of the seat does. Conditioning is not cosmetic on a car in this climate; it is what stops the cracking that no cleaning fixes afterwards.

Interior Detailing FAQs
How much does interior detailing cost in Houston?
Interior Standard: $100 (small) / $120 (midsize) / $150 (large). Interior Full: $175 (small) / $200 (midsize) / $225 (large).
What does interior detailing include?
Interior Standard: wipe-down of all surfaces, dust & vacuum, interior glass. Interior Full adds deep steam cleaning, carpet & seat shampoo, leather/plastic/vinyl protection, headliner clean, and odor elimination.
How long does interior detailing take?
Interior Standard: 1–2 hours. Interior Full: 2.5–4 hours depending on vehicle size and condition.
What is car carpet extraction, and do I need it?
Carpet extraction is hot-water injection followed by immediate vacuum recovery. It pushes cleaning solution into the carpet pile and pulls the dirty water back out, rather than scrubbing the surface and leaving the water behind. You need it when dirt has worked below the surface — traffic lanes that stay dark after vacuuming, spilled drinks, pet accidents, or any smell that comes back a day after a surface clean. Extraction is included in Interior Full.
Can you remove stains from car seats?
Most of them, yes. Coffee, soda, food, mud and pet accidents come out of cloth with hot-water extraction and the right pre-treatment. Ink, dye transfer from new jeans, bleach marks and anything that has bleached or dyed the fibre itself are permanent — the colour is gone, not covered. We tell you which one you have before starting rather than after.
What is the difference between a car wash vacuum and a deep interior clean?
A vacuum removes what is loose on top. A deep clean removes what is bonded underneath — steam into seams and vents, extraction through carpet and cloth, conditioner into leather, and enzyme treatment for odour at the source. In Houston humidity the difference shows up as smell: a vacuumed car smells fine for a day, a deep-cleaned one stays that way.
Can you get the smell out of my car?
Usually. Odour lives in whatever absorbed it — carpet padding, seat foam, the headliner — so masking sprays fail and surface cleaning fails with them. We extract the source material first, then run an enzyme treatment that breaks down the compounds causing the smell. Smoke odour that has soaked into a headliner is the hardest case and sometimes only improves rather than disappears; we say so up front.
Can I combine interior detailing with an exterior service?
Yes — see our pricing page for combined Full Detail packages, or book Interior Standard/Interior Full on its own.
