Paint Correction Houston

Paint Correction in Houston, TX
Remove Swirls, Scratches & Oxidation

Houston's heat, humidity, and UV exposure accelerate paint defects. Our machine polishing restores your clear coat to a mirror finish — mobile, at your home or office.

Why Houston Cars Need Paint Correction

Houston ranks among the most damaging climates for automotive paint in the US.

☀️

UV Oxidation

Houston averages 204 sunny days per year. Prolonged UV exposure breaks down clear coat and causes fading, chalking, and oxidation — especially on reds, blacks, and dark colors.

💧

Hard Water Spots

Houston's tap water is high in mineral content. Sprinkler overspray and rain leave mineral deposits that etch into the clear coat if not removed quickly.

🌀

Swirl Marks

Automatic car washes and improper hand washing create circular micro-scratches that scatter light and make dark paint look dull and hazy in sunlight.

🌿

Tree Sap & Pollen

Houston's aggressive pollen season and abundant tree cover mean sap, oak tannins, and airborne contaminants bond to paint and etch the clear coat if left untreated.

Our Paint Correction Services

Not every car needs the same amount of work. Paying for a multi-stage correction on paint that needs one pass is wasted money, and clear coat you can never get back.

One-step enhancement polish

A single polishing pass on paint that is fundamentally sound. It removes light swirling, lifts oxidation haze and brings back gloss, without removing enough clear coat to worry about. This is the right call on a newer car, a leased vehicle, or anything being prepared for sale where the goal is to look excellent rather than to be flawless under inspection lights.

Single-stage correction

A cutting pass followed by a refining pass. The cut removes the defects; the refine removes the haze the cut leaves behind. This handles the majority of swirl marks, wash-induced scratches, light water spotting and buffer trails, and it is what most Houston daily drivers actually need. Expect roughly three to four hours.

Multi-stage correction

Compounding passes before the cut-and-refine, for paint that has been genuinely neglected — heavy oxidation on a car parked outside for years, deep swirling across every panel, chalky single-stage paint on older vehicles. This is eight to twelve hours of work and it is the only route to a finish that holds up under direct light from any angle.

Swirl mark removal

Worth calling out separately, because it is the defect most people actually mean when they call. Swirls are the fine circular scratches automatic car washes and dirty wash mitts leave in the clear coat. They are shallow, which is good news: machine polishing removes them entirely rather than filling them with glaze that washes out in a month. If swirls are the only problem, a single-stage correction fixes them and you do not need anything heavier.

Correction before coating

A ceramic coating seals whatever is underneath it. Applying one over swirled paint locks the swirls in for the life of the coating, which is why correction comes first and why the two are almost always sold together. If a coating is the goal, see how the two fit together on our ceramic coating page, or read the honest version in paint correction vs ceramic coating.

How We Do Paint Correction

01

Paint Inspection

We inspect your paint under a high-intensity inspection light to assess defects, measure paint depth, and determine the number of stages needed.

02

Wash & Decontamination

Full foam cannon wash, iron fallout removal, and clay bar decontamination. Paint must be 100% clean before polishing begins.

03

Machine Polishing

Single or multi-stage machine polishing using dual-action or rotary polishers with diminishing abrasive compounds to remove swirls, scratches, and oxidation.

04

Final Wipe & Inspection

Paint is wiped down with an IPA panel wipe to remove any polishing oils, then re-inspected under lights to confirm correction levels.

Paint Correction FAQs

What is paint correction?

Paint correction is the process of using machine polishers and abrasive compounds to remove defects from a car's clear coat — swirl marks, scratches, water spots, oxidation, and buffer trails. The result is a mirror-flat finish that reflects light perfectly.

How much does paint correction cost in Houston?

LabShine paint correction starts at $450. Exact pricing depends on vehicle size, paint condition, and whether a single-stage or multi-stage correction is needed.

How long does paint correction take?

A single-stage correction typically takes 3–4 hours. Multi-stage correction for a full vehicle can take 8–12 hours depending on paint severity and vehicle size.

Is paint correction permanent?

Yes — paint correction physically removes defects from the clear coat rather than filling or hiding them. Results are permanent until new defects are introduced. Following correction with a ceramic coating protects the corrected surface for years.

What paint correction services do you offer?

Three levels. A one-step enhancement polish removes light swirling and restores gloss on paint that is in reasonable condition. A single-stage correction cuts and then refines, removing the majority of swirls and light scratches. A multi-stage correction adds compounding passes for heavily defected, oxidised or neglected paint. Every one of them is a mobile paint correction service performed at your home or office in the Houston metro — we assess the paint on arrival and confirm which level it needs before starting.

Do you offer swirl mark removal on its own?

Yes. Swirl removal is what a single-stage correction is for — those fine circular scratches come from automatic car washes and improper hand washing, they sit shallow in the clear coat, and machine polishing removes them outright rather than filling them. If swirls are the only defect, that is a one- or single-stage job rather than a multi-stage one, and it is priced accordingly.

Can paint correction be done mobile, at my house?

Yes, and that is how we do all of it. We bring our own power, lighting, polishers and compounds to your driveway, garage or office car park anywhere in Greater Houston. The one thing we need is shade or a covered space — polishing in direct Houston sun makes compounds flash off before they finish working, so a garage, carport or shaded driveway gives a better result than a sunny one.

Does paint correction remove deep scratches?

Paint correction removes defects within the clear coat. Deep scratches that have penetrated through to the base coat or primer require touch-up paint, not polishing. We assess your vehicle and are transparent about what can and cannot be corrected.
