Protection Film
Clear urethane film over the panels that actually take damage — bumper, hood leading edge, mirrors, rockers. Installed at your home or office.
Paint Protection Film in Houston
Ceramic coating and paint protection film get talked about as alternatives. They are not — they solve different problems, and plenty of vehicles get both.
A coating is chemical protection. It resists UV, chemical etching and water spotting, and makes the car dramatically easier to wash. What it cannot do is stop a stone at 70mph. Film is physical protection: a clear urethane layer thick enough to absorb an impact that would otherwise chip through to primer.
Where film actually earns its cost
Full-vehicle coverage is available, but most owners do not need it. The damage is concentrated: the front bumper, the leading edge of the hood, the mirror caps, the A-pillars, and the rocker panels behind the front wheels — where your own tyres throw debris at the paint.
Covering those areas costs a fraction of a full wrap and prevents the overwhelming majority of chip damage. Beyond that, the usual additions are door edges, the door cups behind the handles where fingernails wear through the clear coat, and the rear bumper top where luggage gets dragged over it.
Why Houston is harder on paint than most places
Houston combines constant highway construction with heavy truck traffic on I-10, 290, 59 and the Beltway. That is a lot of loose aggregate at speed. Add UV that degrades unprotected clear coat and summer storms that put grit on the road, and the front end of a car here takes a beating that a garage-kept vehicle in a milder climate never sees.
Film is also the honest answer for lease returns. Chip damage on a front bumper is a reconditioning charge; film that comes off cleanly at the end of the term is not.
Film and coating together
The usual order is film first, coating over the top. The film handles impact; the coating goes over both the film and the unfilmed paint so the whole car behaves the same way when you wash it — water sheets off, bugs and tar release, and the filmed sections do not stand out.
If you are choosing only one: film if the car does highway miles or you care about resale, coating if the car mostly sits in traffic and you want it easy to keep clean. We will tell you which fits when we see the vehicle.
What People Ask
How much does paint protection film cost?
It is quoted per vehicle, because it depends entirely on coverage. A front-end package — bumper, hood edge, mirrors — is a very different job from a full-body install, and panel size varies enormously between a coupe and a three-row SUV. Tell us the vehicle and which areas concern you and we will quote it.
How long does PPF last?
Quality film is measured in years, not months, and the better products self-heal light swirl marks with heat. Lifespan depends on the film, the environment and how the car is maintained — we will be specific about the product we are installing when we quote.
Will it turn yellow?
Modern urethane films are far more UV-stable than the older generation that gave film that reputation. Yellowing today is usually a sign of a cheap film or a very old install.
Can film be removed?
Yes. Professionally installed film is designed to come off without damaging the paint underneath — which is the whole point for lease returns and resale.
Do you install at my home?
Yes. Film installation needs a clean, controlled environment, so we work in your garage where possible. We will confirm what the vehicle needs when you book.
